Alfredo Rizzo - Little known actor or Character actor? I think he was fairly well known, but the roles he played were usually quite small and often uncredited

The big gap (1938-48) was presumably war related. Can you take a look at the French interview (last post in his topic), maybe there are some biographical details there that I may have missed.
