Dina De Santis 1968.jpg
Dina De Santis, in Cineguida 1968-69
Dina De Santis was an actress active in Italian films from the mid-1950's and throughout the 1960's.

Some websites give her date of birth as December 21st 1943 in Vicenza, Italy, however a look at her films from 1955/6 makes this seem highly unlikely as she is no-way 12 years old in those films. Wikipedia adds that she was born Carlotta Provin, won a beauty contest at a young age and began working in advertising and theatre. Italian wikipedia adds that she was the wife of actor Lucio De Santis (so was it a big coincidence that they both used the same surname or was she a child bride?). All these "facts" should be treated as unconfirmed.

Dina worked steadily from 1954 until her retirement in 1967, slowly rising up the cast lists and gaining a reputation as a reliable supporting actress, but never finding the role that would raise her career to the next level.

She is presumed to be still living, but with no news of her for the past 55 years there is no way to be sure.

I did find one undocumented role for Dina, so there may be others.

Biographical note
  • She lived in Rome, in via Urbana, 129.[1]

La rossa (1955) as Violet seller in the nightclub.

ANICA and IMDb both incorrectly say that she sells cigarettes.

Scapricciatiello (1955) as Carmela and Renato's friend at the tavern.

Once again ANICA's description of her as "Maria's friend" is incorrect.

Il cavaliere dalla spada nera (1956) ANICA describes her role as "lady in the hunting party", but since she is also seen in another scene I'm going with the more general description of Noblewoman.
