Re: White Peplum Beard
Il terrore dei Mantelli Rossi (1963) as Father Lorenzo
Our man is the only unidentified actor in the film who has a sizeable speaking part, as Father Lorenzo, trusted confidant and advisor to Scilla Gabel's Cristina. Of the roles we have for him so far it is almost certainly his biggest.
There is only one unknown, unidentified actor in the credits - I'm a little confused as to his actual name since, while he is listed as "Sergio Prestano" by ANICA, Dizionario del Cinema Italiano and CIDb, he is actually credited as "Serge Prestano" in both the French and English credits. I can only imagine that he may be credited as Sergio in the Italian credits, but unfortunately I have been unable to track down an Italian print to confirm this (however the names of Luciano Benetti, Pietro Tordi and Alfonso Rojas have also been "frenchified" to Lucien, Pierre and Alphonse, so this seems quite likely). This is the only known film credit for Sergio/Serge Prestano.
Regardless of which of the two names we should choose, I am confidant that there is no other possible actor in the film who this name could refer to, so I think we have our identification! There is also the matter of director of production Francesco Paolo Prestano. F.P. Prestano has a number of production credits and at least 3 acting credits, but I think it is unlikely he and Sergio are the same person, more likely they are in some way related, since it would be a very big coincidence for the only 2 people in Italian films with their unusual surname to accidentally end up working on the same, rather obscure, film. Our White Beard definitely does not appear in La scimitarra del Saraceno, one of the films where Francesco Paolo is credited as actor.
and now for the possible, even probable, identification. Our man is the only unidentified actor in the film who has a sizeable speaking part, as Father Lorenzo, trusted confidant and advisor to Scilla Gabel's Cristina. Of the roles we have for him so far it is almost certainly his biggest.
