- "Mr. Egg" in Le 7 fatiche di Alì Babà (1962)
|
"
Mr. Egg" is an unidentified generico active at least in the early sixties. He has been familiar to me for a long time from eye-catching appearances in 3 outrageous peplum fantasies directed by Emimmo Salvi, but I have recently started to find him in other films and genres as well.
He is short, bald with slight point to his head (hence his nickname) and rather camp in his mannerisms.
There are some possibilities for identification, but no way to verify them, "Giuseppe Trinca" seeming to be the most likely. I did ask Bella Cortez, who appeared in 4 films with him, if she could help identify him, but while she did remember him, she was unfortunately not able to help with his identification.

Le 7 fatiche di Alì Babà (1962) as
Companion of Ali Baba.
This is easily his biggest role and, despite not having a character name that I heard, he probably should be credited. Salvatore Furnari, playing Ali's other companion in a role of equal size, is credited. Of the unknown actors in the credit list there is one, Giuseppe Trinca, who has one other credit in
Vulcano, figlio di Giove, where our man has a smaller role, but does have a few lines so could feasibly also be credited. There are also 2 other possible names in the credits for which this film looks to be their only credited appearances, Ivo Occhicupi and Giovanni Silvagni.

Vulcano, figlio di Giove (1962) as
Assistant to Vulcan and he can also be spotted in a second role as, for want of a better description,
Little lizard man.
Once again playing an unlikely sidekick to Iranian bodybuilder Iloosh Khoshabe (aka Rod Flash or Richard Lloyd) and again directed by Emimmo Salvi. The unknown name Giuseppe Trinca once again appears in the credits and while our man has a much smaller role here, he does speak a few lines so could possibly be credited.

Simbad contro i sette saraceni (1964) as
Prison go-go dancer.
In his third peplum appearance for Emimmo Salvi he has a role that you have to double-take to be sure that's it's really happening! In an all-male prison cell he gets up on a table and gyrates his hips while his enthusiastic audience cheer him on!!

Maciste alla corte del Gran Khan (1961) out-of-focus intentionally, but I think still definitely identifiable as a
Man in the tavern

Roma contro Roma (1964) as
Senator.
Not a new role unfortunately, but an appearance thanks to re-used footage from
Costantino il grande (1961)

Il gigante di Metropolis (1961) Hard to know what to call these little hairy men who viciously attack Gordon Mitchell, they're not quite small enough to be dwarfs, so I'll go with "
Little wild man".
With the make-up and wig I would have said this was an uncertain identification, but given the involvement of Mr. Egg's mentor Emmimo Salvi as producer I think we can upgrade that to probable ID.
