"Barbanera" in Ben-Hur (1959)
"Barbanera" is an unidentified actor/generico who had small but noticeable roles in a couple of high-profile peplums.

In the first 3 roles found for him he had a black beard (hence his nickname), though it is always possible that he might have appeared clean-shaven in other films.

Filmography

1959
  1. Ben-Hur .... Samuel (uncredited)
  2. La scimitarra del saraceno .... Pirate

    1960
  3. Morgan il pirata .... Germani Marini

Ben-Hur (1959) as Samuel (or maybe it's "Samwell" which is how it's pronounced?).

In the pre-credit sequence he is the man who enters Nazareth ahead of Joseph and Mary and is one of the first actors who gets to speak when he is asked to give his name.

Morgan il pirata (1960) as Germani Marini.

In the most memorable of his first 3 roles found he plays one of a group of 6 condemned men. The governor chooses to spare the lives of 5 of the men and there is some tension as the names of the men to be released are read out one by one. It comes down to our man or Henry Morgan (Steve Reeves), but after Morgan's name is read out our man is the one condemned to die, an act which is executed by tying his arms and legs to horses who then tear him apart (thankfully not shown).
