Re: Liana Del Balzo

Post by ChristofferSlotte » 23/09/2020, 23:00

there is a banquet in Ben-Hur - the one at Arrius hanging gardens. According to the souvenir book many nobles were in that scene, such as one Lillian de Balzo. Could that be our Liana del Balzo?

If you make a google search you will find this info:

"....Count Santiago Oneto of Spain, Baroness Lillian de Balzo of Hungary, and Princess Irina Wassilchikoff (Russia)."

Was del Balzo a baroness?

There's no food seen or consumed in the scene so I don't think it can be called a banquet, more of a drinks party to make his announcement.

She has one known credit as Liliana Del Balzo, so it quite likely does refer to her. I've looked carefully through that scene and she does not appear identifiably, though there many who are only seen out of focus in the background or too small to identify, so it's quite possible she is amongst those, but we'll probably never know for sure unless there are some on set shots or footage of the extras from that scene.

In any case I guess that could explain how she came to be listed on IMDb.

The only online references to Baroness Lillian de Balzo of Hungary all relate to Ben-Hur, so whether this was a real title or one made up for publicity is hard to know.

Nino is credited in ´Porno erotico Western` (1979). I don't know whether his scenes come from the (for this film) much used ´Lo ammazzo come un cane... ma lui rideva ancora` (1971) or not.

Re: Slim man with moustache

In ´PUttana galera`, where the slim man with moustache has a quite substantial role, there are 2 people with (so far) just THIS credit: Amleto Colajacono and Armando Tortorici. The latter has a 1997 news notice, that he, aged 56, was arrested for being a pickpocket in trams. It's mentioned he had played a cop in 1995's ´La scorta`.... Now the last entry fpr our Slim Man is from 1996--- age would fit.... Has anybody notices about Armando Tortorici?

Very interesting information.
La scorta is not hard to be found, if we found him in the movie, playing that role we could say he is him.

Salvatore is credited in 1974's ´Scusi eminenza... posso sposarmi? (Papesatan)`. If I got it right, you can see him here in a very bad print as old priest, from 10'45 on: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LC7yaASGfeI
