Does an "uncredited" notice really make sense?

Post by FatmanDan » 11/10/2021, 23:28

Question for the filmographies of all our unidentified friends (m/f/d)....
Does an "uncredited" notice really make sense? They are unindentified, so how they should be credited? Or does it indicate that all the credited actors are identified, therefore our gent/lady/human logically is not credited?

It makes sense when we're sure he's not on the cast list. This avoids in the future others having to look for his name among the unknown interpreters of that film.

True. I'll have to keep that in mind. So the cast list should be checked when one of our unidentified generici appears...

It makes sense for films where all the credited actors have been identified, but if there is one or more unidentified actor in the credits then uncredited should not be written until either that actor or our actor have been identified - that's my opinion anyway.

It would maybe be useful to have a list of unidentified names from cast lists, so when we get duplicates we can check to see if they match appearances by any of our unidentified generici or if we can match up unknown actors credited in multiple films, though I'm not sure how that could be done.

Indeed Nick, you have a point there for cast lists to be saved but as you said how in earth's name to cope with that and
to compare them and eventually work with that, i think it is a complicayed work, but who knows
