Trying to identify stuntman/actor Virgilio Ponti
There are 2 scenes that involve rope climbing that I could find in Ercole sfida Sansone.
The first one is supposed to be Enzo Andronico, who was not a stuntman, so may have used a stunt double?
The second you don't see his face, but from behind he seems to resemble Salvatore Borgese, who is seen identifiably elsewhere in the scene

Maybe yes. Among other things, always in the interview, Virigilio initially confused with another film about pirates. In fact, he remembered well the scene of the rope and told me that he found himself high up in the sails of a ship. Later he corrected himself by telling me that the film in question was “Ercole sfida Sansone”. So, the information about the ship and the rope was correct, and the photos you shared let me imagine that probably either Virgilio counterfigured an actor, or his climbing on the rope is not visible in the final cut of the movie (a very common event in today's cinema, perhaps less in that of the 60s).PeplumParadise wrote: ↑25/07/2022, 14:44There are 2 scenes that involve rope climbing that I could find in Ercole sfida Sansone.

Below the last appearance of Virgilio on the screen. TV series "Romulus", 2020. It was his last job before he passed away. In the series he played one of the kings in the Latium area in the pre-Roman era. The role is not credited.

Here some images of Virgilio Ponti in “Le avventure e gli amori di Scaramouche”, 1976.Originally his role was of Alex Togni, but he fell ill during filming and was replaced by Virgilio (only the name of Alex Togni appears in the opening credits). This information is contained in the autobiographical book by Massimo Vanni, who in these images plays the other soldier in green, the blond one with a mustache.
Virgilio is the green soldier with black hair.
(I apologize for the quality of the images, but most of them are action scenes with continuous movement).

Virgilio Ponti in “Gli uomini dal passo pesante” 1965.
Here credited as Payne Clifford.
I can also identify him in this stunt sequence: Virgilio is the stunt guy falling on the right. I can say this thanks to the testimony he gave me himself some years ago, together with this photo taken on the set where the faces of the stuntmen are much sharper and clear:
