The Whitebeard project
Welcome to my Whitebeard project, where I am attempting to identify as many as possible of the white bearded actors working in Italian films of the 50's, 60's and early 70's.
I've found that putting them altogether on a panel for comparison is far more productive than trying to match them up individually from memory, so to kick things off here are 80 potential generici.
I'm pretty sure that none of these match with those whitebeards we already have topics for. If anybody recognises any of the actors here please let me know so I can eliminate them from the list.
I've done some preliminary matching and have found at least one with what I think are four positive matches (so a candidate for a new topic), another maybe that I'd like opinions on, and several more where there are 2 or 3 matches, but it's quite possible I've missed a few so please take a look and weigh in with your opinions.
And if anyone has any unidentified whitebeards of your own you'd like to add to the competition then the more the merrier.

Whitebeard A
From the mole on his left cheek I'm certain these four must be the same actor, so we have at least one new generico. Any suggestions what we should call him?

Whitebeard B
I can't decide if what we have here is one actor or 2 similar looking actors. I think the top 3 are the same and the bottom 3 are the same. The 2 in the centre I'm not so sure about since they're not so clear. Any opinions welcomed.

Whitebeard C
I've posted this one in Quick Identifications previously and it was agreed these 3 are the same man. Now looking for that elusive 4th ID to start a topic for him.

Whitebeard D
I'm quite certain that these are the same actor, so another needing one more role to get him started, ideally one with a sharper image!

I agree it's the same, and I would suggest that this guy is actually the same as Whitebeard A. I say that as this is a familiar face to me. I'm pretty sure he was also among the cardinals in The Shoes of the Fisherman (1968), so I'll have another look at that a little later.PeplumParadise wrote: ↑26/04/2020, 22:34Whitebeard D

Also, I think 13 might be Antonio Proietti, and 23 is surely Gorgon's Victim.

Hmmm :unsure2: Yes, maybe, all the images of D are a bit soft so the mole isn't identifiable, while in all the images of A you don't see the shape of his head, which is a defining feature of D, but I think you could be right.Johan Melle wrote: ↑26/04/2020, 22:57I agree it's the same, and I would suggest that this guy is actually the same as Whitebeard A. Re: The Whitebeard project
I remember I considered both of those when I first found the images and rejected them.Johan Melle wrote: ↑26/04/2020, 22:58Also, I think 13 might be Antonio Proietti, and 23 is surely Gorgon's Victim.
I think I rejected Proietti because it looked too old to be him in 1961. I thought this one looks fairly similar to No.1
I don't remember why I rejected the other as being Gorgon's victim, maybe because he didn't look stone-faced enough and the face doesn't seem as round :unsure2: :new_thinking: :surprised: Also none of the other priests here in Ponzio Pilato seem at all familiar
