- Calogero Chiarenza in Sodoma e Gomorra (1962)
|
Calogero Chiarenza was Sicilian, born in the year 1900 in the city of Campobello di Licata (Agrigento), he began his career around 1924 when he was discovered by the director Carmine Gallone, who liked his face so much that brought him to became a generico in movies. When he was not playing in movies, he was selling brooms in his own shop.
He appeared in various genres during the early-mid sixties and we are now starting to find some fifties roles where he is clean-shaven. His identifiable features are his bushy beard, round elongated face, thinning hair and also a notable lack of eyebrows.
His name was identified by our user Ciavazzaro, thanks to an article published on the Italian magazine Gente n.10 December 1964.

Sodoma e Gomorra (1962) as
Hebrew elder.
Thanks to his credit here, mis-spelled in some Italian prints, but not all, as "Calogero Ghiarenza" and missing from international credits, we were able to identify him.

Original comments that led to his identification.
He has a sizeable speaking role here and he should be credited given that the other Hebrew elders with similar sized roles are.
There are 3 actors in the Italian credits who are unknown, none of whom have any other known credits - Primo Moroni, Calogero Chiarenza and Renato Giua (also spelt Giuia and Giulia on various websites) - any one of these could be our B&B Man, but how to know unless some other credits can be found?
IMDb does credit Moroni with playing "2nd Old Man" which would match their description of Francesco Tensi as "1st Old Man" playing another Hebrew elder, so maybe...
Thanks to Carlos for providing the Italian credits as these 3 actors are missing from the German and English prints

Le ore dell'amore (1963) as
Priest. There may be a slight possibility that he could be credited here since he has a (very small) speaking role and there are a few unfamiliar actors listed, needs further investigation.

Arizona Colt (1966) as
Card player (or could also be called "citizen" of Blackstone, since he's also seen in the street)

Salambò (1960) as
Man in crowd at stoning. He's so enthusiastic he smashes a rock into the face of Narr Havas (
Edmund Purdom), who, thanks to bad editing, walks past him twice!
