: Giancarlo Bastianoni in Maciste, l'eroe più grande del mondo (1963)

Giancarlo Bastianoni was an actor, stuntman and assistant director, active in Italian films at least throughout the 1960's, 70's and 80's.

He has been confused on occasion with similar-looking stuntmen Sergio Smacchi and Oscar Giustini.

I have started his topic only with images I already had saved, so there are plenty of roles to be added. I have included a second filmography to add his production credits.

Titles where Giancarlo is listed as appearing somewhere online, but cannot be found. There always has to be one!

Ursus e la ragazza tartara (1961) IMDb as Polish soldier. I assume someone has mistaken him for similar-looking Oscar Giustini, as Giancarlo is nowhere to be found.

Salambò (1960) as Guard.

This is currently Giancarlo's earliest-known role.

The footage of Giancarlo was re-used in Coriolano eroe senza patria (1964), with the same role description.

and again the footage of Giancarlo was re-used in L'ira di Achille (1962), with the same role description.

In the 2 films below, filmed back-to-back entirely in Yugoslavia, Giancarlo is one of several stuntmen (also including Goffredo Unger and Rinaldo Zamperla), who is credited, but does not appear.

Both films also include a credit for an "Angelo Bastianoni", who is otherwise a total unknown and has no other credits. Maybe a relative of Giancarlo?

Giancarlo was one of the original gladiators in the first film, but he was one of the three, along with Pino Mattei and John Turner, who did not reprise their role in the 2 sequels.
