Premiere der Butterfly (1939) credited as "R. Nobile" but not found.
Yet another opera-themed Italian/German co-production that was shot in separate language versions. I couldn't find Rio in the German version, but maybe he's more visible in the Italian version called Il sogno di Butterfly and which has a partially different cast.

Cuori nella tormenta (1940) as Renato Giorgi.
This looks to have been one of Rio's most prominent film roles. He's not credited, but gets quite a bit of screen-time as Silvia Manto's lover, who finds himself suddenly out of favor when she starts to take an interest in Mino Doro.

Piccolo alpino (1940) as Austrian spy.
An early example of him playing a German-speaking character - many more would follow.

Caravaggio, il pittore maledetto (1941) Role uncertain. I've not been able to find a copy of this, but Rio is shown on the fotobusta standing behind Amedeo Nazzari.

L'allegro fantasma (1941) as Mr. Vernon, the impresario.

7 Jahre Glück (1942) credited, as Police chief.
Yet another Italian/German co-production shot in separate language versions. I've not been able to find the Italian version called 7 anni di felicità, which features a partially different cast, but I would assume that Rio - being fluent in both German and Italian - plays the same role in that version.
