About his role throughout the film, the actresses Ira von Fürstenberg and Luciana Paluzzi refer to Jose as either "Eminence" or "Monsignor" or "Don Bruno" and he tells religious anecdotes in his dialogues. He strangely never appears in clothes or scenes that have to do with religion.
