As for the Philip Ross in credits, I believe he is the same person as Phillip Ross (spelled with two L's), an Australian actor who worked a lot in England, especially on television. There's a picture of him here

I would say he is this man. You have him marked as "Lilian's friend", but he is clearly addressed as "Mr. Mitchell" in the English version at least
