La Venere di Cheronea (1957)

Director

Viktor Tourjansky ("a film by" in Italian credits / "Directed by" on American posters)
Giorgio Rivalta ("Director of Italian version" in Italian credits)
(IMDb lists Fernando Cerchio as director along with Tourjansky, with no mention of Rivalta - I have no idea why)

Storyline

Iride, live-in "model" of Greek sculptor Praxiteles, finds Macedonian soldier Laertes unconscious on the beach. She takes him home where she cares for him and hides him from the Greek soldiers who are searching for him. Iride and Laertes naturally fall for each other, but when Laertes kills a soldier, jealous Praxiteles betrays him. Iride leaves, preferring life as a prostitute, but she is saved just in time when Laertes leads a Macedonian invasion.

Going by online role identifications this should be credited actor Dino "Secondo" Maronetto in Appassionatamente and Bravissimo. I don't see any obvious matches (and I'm not really sure they're the same person), but of the roles that could be credited the most likely candidate seems to be the soldier on the right in 29 & 30.

By process of deduction I think the Greek soldier in 10 / 11 / 12 / 13 has to be credited actor Giulio Falcier. It is by far the biggest unidentified role and the other soldiers with him played by Cobianchi and Meniconi are credited, and he looks nothing like either of the ID's for Maronetto. Falcier has 2 other credits on IMDb, but no role identifications.

No idea regarding Maronetto.

14 is Nino Capozzi.

In 26 isn't that Fortunato Arena again (in the center) in a second role with beard?

I know we've been through it before, but 4 still looks like it could be Armando Annuale to me, but he's never shown too clearly and the pics aren't sharp enough to get a better look at his features.

The soldier in 23 / 24 looks a bit like Gino Marturano, but I'm not at all sure

It's someone with a similar look, but I don't think it's Arena. See what others think.

Annuale is possible, but as discussed previously I don't it's clear enough to be definite - it doesn't look obviously like any other known whitebeards. Unfortunately I don't think it's likely that a better quality print will appear except in the unlikely event that it gets released on blu-ray. I guess it could be added as an uncertain ID?
