Appunti per un'Orestiade africana (1970) credited, as Singer.

This self-indulgent "documentary" by Pier Paolo Pasolini mostly consists of footage the director shot in Africa for a film that was never made. Archie's participation involves his vocalising Pasolini's idea of what native singing should sound like, which bears little relation to actual singing and is a rather painful experience for the viewer! It was shown in Cannes in 1970, but not released anywhere theatrically until 5 years later.

A couple of extracts from the book Katherine Dunham by Joyce Aschenbrenner. These explain why he left her dance company, as well as giving some insight into his personality and motivations at the time.

The following few posts contain photos of Archie by the photographer Carl Van Vechten and date from the early 40's, around the time he left the Katherine Dunham dance troupe to strike out on his own. It must be said that these images do nothing to dispel the notion that he was probably gay. These images and others can be found on the Gods and Foolish Grandeur blog.

From the mid-60's Archie was a member of The Folkstudio Singers, a gospel vocal group formed at and named after Harold Bradley's Folkstudio club. Several early articles about the group in the magazine Radiocorriere, dating from 1964, mention both Bradley and Alfred Thomas as being members of the group, however, if true, they had clearly left by the time the group started recording in the latter half of the decade. Several of their recordings can be heard on You Tube.
