Tullio Altamura is a character actor, active in Italian films and television from the mid-1950's to the mid-1970's (with one late role in the 1980's).

All internet sources give his unconfirmed date of birth as July 18th 1924 in Bologna, Italy.

From the mid-1950’s he worked steadily, mainly in television and radio, working his way up from bit parts to larger supporting roles. Throughout the 1960’s he became a familiar face that would pop up regularly in peplums, eurospies and westerns. He was credited on a number of occasions under the rather peculiar pseudonym "Tor Altmayer".

With only four roles in the first half of the 1970’s it appeared that his career had ground to a halt, however, a search on Radiocorriere TV guide has revealed that there was a director of short television documentaries named Tullio Altamura who was quite prolific between 1969-1975. His name is rather unusual, so the likelihood of there being two people called Tullio Altamura seems highly unlikely. I therefore think, considering also the timing, that this must be the same Tullio.

Assuming it is him then it could be very possible he continued working in this field, the credits in Radiocorriere became progressively less complete from the mid-70’s, so chances are he would not have been credited. He did have one final acting role in 1988, after which nothing is known.

The internet sources which list his date of birth also all list him as still living and currenty aged 97. While it is quite possible that he is still living, it is also starting to seem possible that he may have died and his death gone unreported - hopefully not.

I have found undocumented roles for Tullio, so there may yet be more.
