Livio Lorenzon was a character actor, active in Italian films and television from the early 1950's until his untimely death in 1971.

He was born on May 6th 1923 in Trieste, Italy. He was the brother of actor Gianni Solaro, they would often appear in films together, and they had another brother, Lucio, who was an amateur filmmaker.[1]

During the war Livio had various professions including digging holes for re-forestation, as a longshoreman and as a trainer of the equestrian team of the military police. He got his first taste of acting when he was hired as a presenter on Radio Trieste.

His earliest known film appearance came in 1952, initially appearing under the pseudonym "Elio Ardan". He worked steadily throughout the 1950's and by the end of the decade he was scoring substantial supporting roles, finding his niche playing villains in medieval swashbucklers, peplums and, later, westerns. In the late 50's it is rumoured that he was romantically involved with actress Chelo Alonso, with whom he appeared in 6 films. Chelo's stunt-double became Livio's wife.

Livio died in Latisana, Italy on December 23rd 1971, aged only 48, from cirrhosis of the liver (he was allegedly a heavy drinker).

No Livio!

Titles where Livio is listed as appearing somewhere online, but cannot be found. There always has to be one!

Bertoldo, Bertoldino e Cacasenno (1954) ANICA with no role. ANICA and IMDb both say Livio should be credited as "Elio Ardan", but this credit does not appear and neither does Livio.
Marte, dio della guerra (1962) IMDb with no role. Livio does not appear.

Ombre su Trieste (1952) credited and pictured on the publicity as "Elio Ardan", as Carmine (role to be confirmed).

As far as is known this was Livio's film debut. It appears he has a starring role.

Siluri umani (1954) as Sergeant.

The only available print of this film was ghastly quality, but even so I think it is still obviously Livio on the left.
