Ely Galleani was born on April 24, 1953 in Alassio (Savona). She's the daughter of a Count and a Polish divorcee of Lithuanian (tsarist) origins, who escaped Soviet persecution. At the age of seven she moved with her family to Rome. She completes her classical studies at the Visconti classica lyceum and right after school she is noticed by some film agents.

Her first works in show business are an advertisement for Algida ice cream and two participations as an extra in the films La caduta degli dei (1968) and Morte a Venezia (1969), directed by Luchino Visconti; although, her first absolute appearance occurs in 1964 in the film 00-2 agenti segretissimi by Lucio Fulci, a film that uses material from a contemporary audition of hers.

Having abandoned her studies, in 1969 she definitively took off with an important role in the film Quella piccola differenza by Duccio Tessari. He participates in many famous films in succession: 5 bambole per la luna d'agosto (1970) by Mario Bava, Una lucertola con la pelle di donna (1971) by Lucio Fulci, In nome del popolo italiano (1971) by Dino Risi, Baba Yaga (1972) by Corrado Farina, Sono stato io! (1972) by Alberto Lattuada and Jus primae noctis (1972) by Pasquale Festa Campanile.

In the same year she meets and marries the future director Carlo Vanzina in civil marriage, but their union lasts only a year. She becomes friends with Dino Risi, Mario Monicelli, Michelangelo Antonioni and Roman Polanski. In 1973 she took part in Alberto Sordi's Polvere di stelle, but her character was during assembly. The same year she participated as the protagonist in the film Sedicianni (1973) by Tiziano Longo, in the role of a sixteen-year-old lolita who steals her mother's lover. In the film, the actress performs some nude scenes and flaunts lewd attitudes that cause a stir and the consequent seizure of the film, which is then released with a ban on minors and a new, smart advertising slogan: «Finally free! In edition absolutely integral. Here is a film that presents the ambiguous implications of the first sexual abandonment of a sixteen-year-old». She obtained relevant roles in the policeman Mark il poliziotto spara per primo (1975) by Stelvio Massi and in the sexy-comedy La dottoressa sotto il lenzuolo (1976) by Gianni Martucci, duetting with the chacacter-icon of the genre Alvaro Vitali.

Later he devoted himself mainly to erotic films such as Emanuelle nera: Orient reportage (1976), La via della prostituzione (1978) and Manuela (1983) directed by Joe D'Amato, Una donna chiamata Apache (1976) by Giorgio Mariuzzo, Cugine mie (1978) by Marcello Avallone, also carving out a part in the film Il genio (1976) by Claude Pinoteau, with Yves Montand and Agostina Belli.

In the meantime, she resumed studying, obtaining an artistic diploma at the age of 26 and subsequently that of accountancy at 35. In 1983, the frustration of those usual small roles that rarely gratified her, led her to abandon the world of entertainment and, like many others actors of the period come to decline, falls easy prey to drugs. Thanks to her great willpower, however, she manages to get out of it and thus begins to work as an interior decorator in a recovery program, to then be reborn to a new life.

Over the years she has lived in London, Paris and Venice, cities that she loves very much. She had works in an accounting firm, while her passions are archeology (especially the study of Egyptian hieroglyphs), writing (On The Web - Blog: Una stella in rete, published by Simonelli Editore) and the good cooking. She practiced canoeing, sailing and swimming. Her half-sister was the actress Halina Zalewska, who died in 1976 at the age of 36 in the fire of her Roman apartment.[1]
