The artistic versatility of Isa Pola (stage name of Maria Luisa Betti di Montesano) had as its first testing ground in the theatre stages, where with a short career she reached soon a leading position. After the activity in a troupe of the Venetian dialect theater, she took the great step that brought her as "prima donna" with Gandusio and Viarisio.[1]

She dedicated herself to cinema, first in the short pauses of her theatrical activity, and then more and more intensely. On the screen she did the brilliant interpretations that had made her famous on the stage, with sincere talent as a dramatic actress, as can be seen in her wonderful character of Santuzza in Cavalleria rusticana.
