In Annuario degli attori 1976
Giuseppe Mattei, more commonly known as James Harris, was an actor who appeared in mostly obscure French and Italian films during the 1960s and 70s.

His earliest known roles are in various French-Italian co-productions from the late 1960s, though the fact that he appears in Bye bye, Barbara (1969), a purely French production without Italian involvement, suggests he may have actually been living in France during that time.

From 1972, he was active in several sleazy Italian films, in some of which he was credited as Giuseppe Mattei, which has lead to all sorts of filmography confusions since stuntman-actor Giuseppe "Pino" Mattei was also active during the same period. He was last seen in a handful of cheap erotic French films released during 1975-77, but which were apparently all shot during 1973-74.

No biographical details are known about Giuseppe and he does not appear to have acted in many films, but he nevertheless managed to work with a number of very well-known cult directors such as Max Pécas, Jess Franco, Alberto Cavallone and Luigi Batzella, with has argueably most famous part being his role as the devil in Batzella's horror film Nuda per Satana (1974).

It's quite possible that there are some further appearances to be found for Giuseppe/James.

Le main noire (La mano nera) (1968) credited as James Harris, as Thomas Varga (role to be confirmed).

This predominantly French crime film directed by Max Pécas was the first of two occasions in which Giuseppe played the leading role. I've not been able to locate a copy, but I found a clip that includes some footage of Giuseppe and his credit, and also some Italian fotobustas that feature him prominently.

Les cracks (La corsa del secolo) (1968) credited, as Orlando Orlandi.

This French-Italian comedy about a bicycle race features Giuseppe in a reasonably large supporting role as an Italian cycling champion.

Bye bye, Barbara (1969) credited as James Harris, as The racketeer.

Giuseppe has only a very brief role in this French comedy. Unlike his other 1960s films, this one was not an Italian co-production, which indicates he might have actually been based in France at the time.

Confessioni segrete di un convento di clausura (1972) credited, as Ser Loppolo.

Coming a few years after his previous known role, this silly decamerotic film was the first of two films Giuseppe made for director Luigi Batzella, known for his numerous cheap and/or sleazy films.

Il fiore dai petali d'acciaio (1973). This one has a credit for Giuseppe Mattei, and since Nick was unable to find the other Giuseppe Mattei in it, it might actually be Giuseppe/James who appear in this one. To be checked...

La mano spietata della legge (1973) credited, as Quattroni henchman.

Giuseppe has a small role as Klaus Kinski's henchman, with his big moment coming when he gets to restrain Luciano Rossi as Kinski takes a blowtorch to Rossi's groin!

Nuda per Satana (1974) credited as James Harris, as The devil.

Back to being credited as James Harris (probably to avoid any further confusion with Giuseppe "Pino" Mattei), this horror film was the second of two films Giuseppe made for Luigi Batzella, and surely his most famous one - going all out here in an eye-rolling performance as the devil himself.

Zelda (1974) credited as James Harris, as Henry.

This Alberto Cavallone sex drama offers Giuseppe his second leading role. He plays a race car driver found dead together with a black woman at the start of the film, and then the story of what happened to them is revealed in flashback.
