Jim Dolen, in Cineguida 1961
Jim Dolen was a small-part actor active in Italian films at least from the late 1950's until the mid-1960's.

Matt Blake's The Wild Eye website has a small profile for Dolen which contains the information that he worked as a dubbing artist. He says he believes Dolen could be British, but in films where you hear what is almost certainly his real voice, such as Gidget Goes to Rome and the Disneyland episode, he speaks with a definite American accent.

The Aveleyman site gives the more precise details that he was born on February 20th 1918 in The Bronx, New York and died on February 28th 1965, aged 47, citing the State Dept. Reports of Citizens Deaths Abroad as the source.

Since he does have a couple of uncredited roles then it's always possible there could be more to be found.

Filmography

1958
  1. Totò nella luna .... George Connor (credited)

    1961
  2. Il pianeta degli uomini spenti .... Boyd (credited)

    1963
  3. Gidget Goes to Rome .... Nelson (uncredited)
  4. Il crollo di Roma .... Caius (credited)
  5. La ragazza che sapeva troppo .... Priest (uncredited)
  6. La vergine di Norimberga .... John Selby (credited)

    1964
  7. Disneyland (TV series, Ep.: "The Ballad of Hector the Stowaway Dog, second part" .... Captain (credited)

Titles to check
  • Robert Montgomery Presents (1955) TV series, season 6, episode 17: "A Night for Dreaming". IMDb
  • Saffo - Venere di Lesbo (1960) Filmdbit as Potter. The actor playing this role doesn't seem much like Dolen, however available copies are poor and he's wearing a wig, so I won't rule it out completely until a better print eventually surfaces.
  • Barabba (1961) IMDb / ANICA as The second prisoner. I've never managed to recognise him, but if he appears wearing a wig or a helmet then he may be hard to spot, so I don't rule out his possible appearance.

Disneyland (1964 TV series) Episode: "The Ballad of Hector the Stowaway Dog, second part", credited, as Captain

This was a 2-part storyline filmed in Portugal. IMDb would have you believe that Jim appears in both parts, but he is only in the second and then only briefly. This is currently Jim's last known role.
