He was born Joaquín Díaz Muntané on August 26th 1930 in Barcelona.
Joaquín began his career as a stage actor at the age of 6 in the company of his aunt, Juanita Diaz. This led to him joining the Radio Barcelona stage team, where he would remain for 15 years. His earliest role listed on the Spanish dubbing website Eldoblaje.com dates from 1943 when he would have been 13. Quite astonishingly the website lists over 2,500 roles dubbed by him. He was the regular Spanish voice of actors such as Jack Lemmon, Rod Steiger, Peter Ustinov, Alberto Sordi, Ian Holm, Telly Savalas and others. He also worked as a dubbing director and was equally at home working in Castellano or Catalan.
In 1961, 18 years after beginning his dubbing career, Joaquín began to also appear as an actor in films, mostly in small parts. He was quite busy as an actor in the 60's, with more sporadic appearances later, simultaneously continuing dubbing work.
He died in Barcelona on September 4th 2013, aged 83.
His autobiography, "Mi voz en millones de fotogramas" (My voice in millions of frames), was published posthumously in 2015.
