Originally his role was of Alex Togni, but he fell ill during filming and was replaced by Virgilio (only the name of Alex Togni appears in the opening credits). This information is contained in the autobiographical book by Massimo Vanni, who in these images plays the other soldier in green, the blond one with a moustache.
