Giovanni Petti vs Giovanni Petrucci
Do you know of any theories as to the non-appearance of both Claudio Scarchilli and Giovanni Petti in Vamos a matar, compañeros (1970)? I'm considering Petti for a future topic.
Also it seems that Gene Reyes appearance has previously gone undocumented anywhere online as far as I can find (until now, obviously)

Further to Giovanni Petti, I've now checked 4 westerns (plus Safari Express) where he is credited, but does not appear. With that many non-appearing roles there must surely be a second actor who was using the same name, concurrently with the real Petti at least until the start of the 70's.PeplumParadise wrote: ↑04/04/2024, 12:49Do you know of any theories as to the non-appearance of both Claudio Scarchilli and Giovanni Petti in Vamos a matar, compañeros (1970)? IMDb's listings for Petti are a total mess. They list the bulk of his roles under the profile for "Giovanni Petrucci" (who they would have you believe started acting before he was one year old), while the actual page for Petti only lists 15 titles, including several of the ones where he does not appear! I'm not familiar with Petrucci, who we have identified in the topic for Estratto dagli archivi segreti della polizia di una capitale europea (1972), but unidentified in the topic for Il gladiatore che sfidò l'impero (1965).
Do you know if there is either Giovanni Petrucci, or an unidentified actor, or an identified uncredited actor, who appears in all the 4 westerns where he is credited but does not appear?
The westerns where he is credited but non-appearing are:
Quién grita venganza (1968)
Tutto per tutto (1968)
Vamos a matar, compañeros (1970)
Il bianco il giallo il nero (1975)
IMDb says he should also be credited in Uno, dos, tres... dispara otra vez (1973), but in my copy he was neither credited, nor appearing

I was just about to reply when you posted an expanded explanationPeplumParadise wrote: ↑04/04/2024, 12:49Do you know of any theories as to the non-appearance of both Claudio Scarchilli and Giovanni Petti in Vamos a matar, compañeros (1970)? I'm considering Petti for a future topic.

I have no theories really. Claudio does not appear in O' Cangaceiro.
Petti is an interesting case. Some of the films he does not appear in (as far as I can find) are Italian credits only, not the Spanish credits: Tutto per tutto, ¿Quién grita venganza? and possibly Companeros (I haven't found the Spanish credits). The other 2 I have doubts about are Lo ammazzo come un cane... ma lui rideva ancora and Una pistola per cento bare. The credits on these are kinda wonky

I'm pretty sure I did see someone who looked like the actor we have identified as Giovanni Petrucci in at least one of the westerns, but having just watched them in quick succession I don't remember which it was!!carlos wrote: ↑04/04/2024, 18:05I was just about to reply when you posted an expanded explanationPeplumParadise wrote: ↑04/04/2024, 12:49Do you know of any theories as to the non-appearance of both Claudio Scarchilli and Giovanni Petti in Vamos a matar, compañeros (1970)? But does Petrucci appear in the films where Petti is credited without appearing, or is there another actor who is present but seemingly uncredited in all the films?

Not in westerns. I'm not sure where the mix-up occurred but Petrucci is not PettiPeplumParadise wrote: ↑04/04/2024, 18:21But does Petrucci appear in the films where Petti is credited without appearing
I couldn't find one when I researched Petti years ago. I'll look againPeplumParadise wrote: ↑04/04/2024, 18:21or is there another actor who is present but seemingly uncredited in all the films?

Yes, I know they're not the same obviously, but I suppose Petrucci must have used the Petti name as a pseudonym at one point, or else someone mis-identified him in a film where they are both appear and Petti is credited, though since it comes from IMDb then it could just come from someone with a vivid imagination and little sense!!
I hope you can find someone, otherwise he has a bunch of credits that are a total mystery and rather more than would usually be found. I assume the Petti we know either retired or died after 1973 as he does not seem to appear in any films after that time.
The best solution would probably be for me to do topics for both Petti and Petrucci to try and sort it out (though that still wouldn't help explain the films where Petti is credited but neither appear), but that may have to wait as I am already trying to untangle the mixed-up IMDb credits for Aníbal Vela and Aníbal Vela hijo

I thought that might be him below in Lo ammazzò come un cane, but anyway with that quantity of credits where he does not appear (including Safari Express and possibly 1 or 2 other non-westerns), I would think the only possible explanation would be another actor using the same name, and seemingly not Petrucci. I'm putting his possible topic on hold and will come back to it somewhere down the line or when some further information presents itself.carlos wrote: ↑12/04/2024, 0:08It's still a mystery to me .
