: Vladimir Medar in Winnetou und sein Freund Old Firehand (1966)

Vladimir Medar was a robust character actor, active in films and television shot in Yugoslavia, including many Italian co-productions, between the years 1949-1979.

He was born in 1923 in Zagreb, Yugoslavia and died on May 17th 1978 in Bela Crkva, Serbia (then Yugoslavia). These details are repeated on all websites. Surprisingly no other biographical details are currently known.

Vladimir's earliest known film role comes from 1949. He then worked steadily in small roles in Yugoslav films throughout the 1950's. In the 60's he appeared in some larger roles in international co-productions shot in Yugoslavia, notably in peplums and Karl May westerns, including one lead in Taras Bulba, il cosacco (1962), but these were balanced with plenty of smaller and often uncredited roles. In the 70's he appeared mostly in very small roles in Yugoslav films and television.

I have found a couple of undocumented roles for Vladimir in Italian co-productions shot in Yugoslavia, so it seems likely there could be more roles to be found.

Medar is missing!

Titles where Vladimir is credited with appearing somewhere online, but cannot be found. There always has to be one!

Michele Strogoff (1956) IMDb as Innkeeper. As far as I could find there is only one innkeeper and he isn't Vladimir.
I giorni dell'ira (1967) IMDb as Old Man Perkins. It seemed unlikely that Vladimir would show up in an uncredited role in a film shot in Spain and Italy and indeed it is not him in the role.

Barba Zvane (1949) credited, as Stipe, a partisan.

This is currently Vladimir's earliest-known film appearance.

Watching in Croatian I was unable to work out what Vladimir's very brief role was.

This appears to be some kind of a Yugoslav peplum, but again watching it in Croatian I had little idea what was going on.
