All available sources seem to be agreed that he was born Daniele Pitani on April 20th 1922 in Bologna, Italy.[3]
According to his profile in Dizionario del cinema italiano he was a classmate of Pier Paolo Pasolini in school, after which he graduated in medicine. He reportedly practiced as a doctor for some years, relocating to Rome in 1957 so he could pursue his true passion, the cinema.
His career in Italian films kicked off with 6 roles in 1959. From that point on he worked steadily in Italian films for the next 2 decades, appearing in over 100 films, proving to be a reliable character player in pretty much every genre, usually cast in the roles of villains. He appears to have retired from acting after 1981 (bar one unconfirmed role from 1988).
Daniele died in Rome on January 7th 1992, at the age of 69.
Daniele is one of 4 actors whose Facebook page I have been moderator of for many years. The other 3 (Dakar, José Jaspe, Umberto Silvestri) have led to my being in contact with family members of the actors in question, but curiously, with him being the best known of the 4, I have had absolutely no contact from anyone who knew Daniele, so sadly I am unable to add any new biographical information from this source.
Over the years I have uncovered a handful of previously undocumented film appearances by Daniele, so I wouldn't rule out the possibility that there may be one or two more to be discovered.

No Daniele!
Titles where Daniele is listed as appearing by other sources, but cannot be found. There always has to be one!
- Manos sucias (1957) as Dano. There is a very similar looking actor that I initially had identified as Daniele in this film shot in Barcelona, but on close examination beside the other images there is a slight difference in the nose, so I do not believe it is him. Maybe I will find more roles for Daniele's Spanish look-alike!
- The Pink Panther (1963) This title appears in Daniele's entry in Cineguida 1963-64. I have checked the film thoroughly and Daniele is nowhere to be found, so I presume he must have filmed a scene which ended up on the cutting room floor.
- Ercole contro i tiranni di Babilonia (1964) IMDb with no role. Daniele does not appear and is not credited.
