Isabella Zanussi was another great generica, the daughter of one of our most beloved generiche, Lydia Zanussi, as her mother she do appear in a lot of movie, and seems to be credited only in the movie I gabbiani volano basso (1978).

Isabella Zanussi began her acting career in 1952 at the age of 16 when she appeared in the fotoromanzo "Oltre l'amore", published in the magazine Sogno from May to October 1952. In doing so, she followed in the footsteps of her mother, Lydia Zanussi, who was already an established character actress in the fotoromanzi published in Sogno.

Here are a few scans of Isabella in the fotoromanzo "Oltre l'amore" where she plays a young novice who is terminally ill

Isabella is also briefly talked about in the letter column in Sogno N. 43 (26 October 1952) and it is from here we know that she is the daughter of Lydia Zanussi and that she was 16 years old in 1952

Unlike her mother, who was a very prolific actress in fotoromanzi throughout the 1950s, Isabella doesn't appear to have been in any further fotoromanzi until much, much later. In fact, the next fotoromanzo discovery of Isabella is from 22 years later in "Nancy nel deserto" (published in Cineromanzo N. 6 from June 1974) where she appears uncredited together with Luciano Zanussi

Lydia Zanussi appears in this fotoromanzo, too, but not in the same scenes as Isabella and Luciano. So, three actors named Zanussi in the same fotoromanzo. A coincidence...?


Isabella also has a credited and pretty substantial role as Mark Bodin's mother in the fotoromanzo Katiuscia N. 2: "La prima moglie" (February 1981)

She also has a small but credited role Bluejeans N. 56: "La ferita del cuore" (July 1981)

And finally in Katrin N. 74: "La notte del destino" (August 1981) where she is once again credited

Unfortunately, we have no idea what Isabella was up to in the 1950s and 60s, but we do know that she was a very active generica during the 1970s and 80s as we've found her in many films.

Isabella also appears as the wife of Mike Morris in L'avvertimento (1980), wearing the same glasses she has in many of her fotoromanzi
