Aldo Pedinotti

Aldo Pedinotti in Gli schiavi più forti del mondo (1964)
pedinotti.jpg

Aldo Pedinotti was a giant actor (I don't know his exact height, but in La morte viene dal pianeta Aytin he appears to be of similar stature to 7ft Pascuale Fasciano). His size made him ideally suited to playing monsters and, indeed, giants. He has at least 2 credited roles from which he is identified, and also played the role of Goliath in David e Golia under the pseudonym Kronos.

Aldo's son, Luca, has been in contact with me via my Facebook gallery for Pedinotti. He confirmed that his fathers date of birth was March 30th 1940 in Rome, Italy and that he died in June 2007, also in Rome. He also confirmed that his father used the pseudonym Kronos in David e Golia and alerted me to his appearance in Satyricon.

There are 2 additional titles where Pedinotti is credited online that I have been unable to find, so if you have either of these you know what to do:
  • Pezzo, capopezzo e capitano (Serenata ad un cannone) (1958) as Carlo, maybe credited
  • Cin cin... cianuro (1967)

David e Golia (1960) credited as Kronos, as Goliath.

For a long time I did not think that this could be Pedinotti, he looks considerably different here than in his other films, but his son Luca has confirmed to me that this is indeed his father and I guess if anyone should know then he should. Aldo is clearly under heavy make up, false nose and hair/beard/eyebrows obscuring his features, while it appears the close up shots of him have been stretched to make his head look wider (all other shots from the film are in correct ratio).

Maciste nella terra dei Ciclopi (1961) as Cyclops.

I am still editing images from this film and will add them once I am finished. In the meantime here is a fotobusta from the film showing several images of Pedinotti as the titular cyclops (you also have Alfred Thomas and the baby is future super model Fabio - strange but true). The footage of Pedinotti was re-used in Maciste all'inferno the following year.

Gli schiavi più forti del mondo (1964) credited, role uncertain. He must have a character name here, but I need to re-watch it to check. He has a great comedy routine going here with dwarf actor Arnaldo Fabrizio.
