La dama de Beirut (1965)

title.jpg
The title above is from the Spanish credits, however the spelling of "Beyrut" appears to be Italian, so presumably a mistake, or a money-saving one-title-fits-both.

French title: Aventure à Beyrouth
Italian title: La dama di Beyrut

Director

Ladislao Vajda (credited as director)

Luis María Delgado (credited as one of 3 assistant directors)

According to the trivia on IMDb, credited director Vajda died one week into production and Delgado took over for the remainder of the production, but preferred to let Vajda keep the main directorial credit

Storyline

Young ladies in Spain are being abducted by white slavers and shipped off to Beirut, where they are forced to work as prostitutes for rich playboys. Desperate to escape her past, singer Isabel Llanos accepts a contract to perform, but finds herself a prisoner of the middle eastern mafia.

Unidentified actors

Unidentified credited actors
  • Mariano Azaña - Identified but not found
  • Consuelo Blasco - She has no other credits as an actress, but a dozen credits as a make-up artist
  • Maruja Garrido - She has no other credits as an actress. IMDb lists her as appearing as a singer on a few soundtracks, but images of the singer online do not match with anyone in the film, so she may be different person.
  • Teresa Giro - She has 6 credits on IMDb, none with roles. We tried, but failed, to match her with unidentified actresses from several westerns
  • Luis Padrós - Based on one identification I'm fairly confident that he is the Interpol agent in images 43-43B
The film was filmed entirely in Barcelona (apart from a few establishing location shots), verified by the presence of many Barcelona-based actors (Diaz, Fernández, Halufi, Ibarzabal, Lizarza, Palomo and "El hombre…" are all known to have been based in Barcelona). Accordingly the background actors should all, presumably, be Barcelona-based Spanish actors.

Of the 5 50's/60's roles listed for Luis Padrós on IMDb, the only one where I was able to ID him was in this role from Gaudi (1960).
A PADROS Gaudi 1960 - TokyVideo9-side.jpg
I'm fairly confident that this is him as the interpol agent in 43-43B, though the lack of the false moustache/goatee make it difficult to be certain

This is Mariano Azaña in Como dos gotas de agua (1964), which matches with his image on IMDb. I really don't see anyone who looks like him in the film. He died about a month after production would have finished, so if his scenes were cut they may have left his credit as a curtesy, same as they did with the director.

Added, thank you

Is the guy with the mohican in 82-83 familiar to you? I'm certain I've seen him in other things, but can't think what offhand. The bellhop in 27-28 also seems very familiar.
