: Luigi Trenker in Cineguida 1943

Luigi Trenker was an author, actor and director of exquisite artistic sensibility, and of award-winning skills. He has been awarded three times at the Venice Film Festival with his films Il figliuol prodigo, Imperatore della California and Condottieri.

He has discovered many artists who have been successful in Germany (Paul Verhoeven, for example, was one of his pupils). Trenker, who has come in Italy to shoot Uomini contro la morte as the main interpreter, was hired for a long time by Cines for the creation and direction of several films.
