Aníbal Vela hijo was a small-part actor, active in Spanish films from the early 1950's to the mid-1970's.

He was born Aníbal Vela Lamana, date and year surprisingly unknown. His parents were actor/singer Aníbal Vela and María Rosa Vela Lamana.

In his father's lifetime he was most often billed as "Aníbal Vela hijo" ('hijo', meaning 'son', is the Spanish equivalent of putting 'jr.' after a name in English), but there were quite a few occasions where he was also billed just as "Aníbal Vela", which has understandably caused confusion and mistakes on most online filmographies for both actors. While they frequently appeared in the same films, I've only found one occasion when they appeared on screen together. Following his father's death the son adopted his father's name and was then always billed as "Aníbal Vela".

He never played more than small character roles, but by the late 60's, while still credited, most of his parts were little more than background roles. He disappeared from the screen after 1971, bar one unconfirmed appearance in 1976.

He died in Madrid on May 15th 1992.

Titles where Anibal is listed as appearing somewhere online, but cannot be found. There always has to be one!

Trampa para Catalina (1963) IMDb as Tonet. His father appears in one of his final roles, "hijo" does not
Los dinamiteros (1964) IMDb with no role. Anibal does not appear and is not credited, but his lookalike, who we have accordingly named "Vela hijo's twin", does

He is not in the French credits, but should be in the Spanish. He is on the left in the first and right in the second rather blotchy images.
