All sources seem agreed that she was born Marialuisa Traversi in on August 6th 1934 in Milan.
Her family moved to Rome following the second world war, where she initially worked as a singer in nightclubs (a role she would later play in several movies) as well as competing in beauty contests. She began her film career in 1957 and worked steadily in films for the next 15 years, sporadically at first, with her career picking up from 1967 onwards. She was also active as a theatre actress at this time.
In the summer of 1972 she was involved in a car accident which left her hospitalised in a serious condition. While in hospital she met Professor Nicola Pujia, who was part of her medical team, and two years later they were married. She was able to resume her film career following the accident, but her remaining appearances were rather sporadic and after one final role in 1983 she retired from the screen to devote herself to her husband and family.
She died in Rome on March 15th 2023, at the age of 88.
