Franca Scagnetti, in Morte sospetta di una minorenne (1975)

Franca Scagnetti (Rome, May 17, 1924—Rome, November 1, 1999) was the most famous "generica" of Italian Cinema.

She lived all her life in Rome, in via Gregorio IX, where she was an housewife. She entered in the world of entertainment in the 70s as an extra, but more often as a "figurazione speciale" (an extra with some lines of speech). Her characteristic roman sympathy and her abundant figure typical of the middle-aged woman of popular extraction, contribute to increase her fame to the point that over the years its become more important than many actresses of her period.

After thirty years of participations, in the late nineties, also forgotten by relatives and in serious economic difficulties, she appeared in an episode of the TV show by Rai Domenica In: interviewed by Mara Venier, she asked, in tears «to give her a job» for her own subsistence.

The late revaluation of her spontaneous art and the affection for her figure, takes place with some participation in the TV-Series Casa Vianello (1998), Don Matteo (1999) and Un medico in famiglia (1998-99).

She's gone a few months after her last movie, Regina Coeli (1999).
